French Hospital opened in 1972, named for its founder Edison French, MD. e nonprofit hospital is currently in the middle of a fundraising cam- paign for $125 million to renovate its campus and build a new patient care tower to double its capacity by 2022. e hospital's plans include 56 new private beds, which would bring the total bed count at the hospital to 180, and a 16-bed neonatal intensive care unit. e hospital received the Greenhealth Partner for Change Award from Practice Greenhealth in 2018, honoring its environmentally friendly initiatives.
