HealthCare's acquisition of substantially all of the assets of St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn., from Ascension. e University of Louisville (Ky.) board approved a deal Aug. 14 to take over Jewish Hospital and KentuckyOne Health's other Louisville assets, which include three more hospitals and four outpatient centers. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho-based-based Kootenai Health has entered into a letter of intent to acquire two critical access hospitals from Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health. Lexington, Ky.-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare acquired Highlands Regional Medical Center, a 192-bed hospital in Prestonsburg, Ky., on Aug. 1. Phoenix-based Banner Health plans to acquire North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, which it has operated since 1995. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems completed the sale of 245-bed Tennova Healthcare-Lebanon to Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Aug. 1. Butler (Pa.) Health System and Clarion (Pa.) Healthcare System have signed a definitive agreement to merge. Philadelphia-based Temple University has agreed to sell Fox Chase Cancer Center and its interest in Health Partners Plan to omas Jefferson Univer - sity in Philadelphia. Gaithersburg, Md.-based Adventist HealthCare has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Fort Washington (Md.) Medical Center. Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare and Evergreen Park, Ill.-based Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Centers are negotiating a full merg- er, according to a July 17 announcement. Care New England Health System, a three-hospital system based in Provi- dence, R.I., announced July 16 that its board voted to withdraw from merger talks with Lifespan and Brown University, both in Providence. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems entered into a defini- tive agreement May 23 to sell 167-bed College Station Medical Center to Bryan, Texas-based CHI St. Joseph Health. e transaction was finalized at the end of July. Aspirus, a rural health system in Wausau, Wis., signed a letter of intent to merge with Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage, Wis., the organizations an- nounced July 10. Beaumont Health, an eight-hospital system based in Southfield, Mich., has signed a letter of intent to acquire Summa Health, a four-hospital system based in Akron, Ohio. Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health has completed its merger with Bon Secours Health System in Dublin, Ireland's largest private healthcare provider. Stony Brook (N.Y.) Medicine completed its acquisition of 90-bed Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, N.Y., July 1. AHMC Healthcare, a Southern California-based integrated health system, is the new owner of Parkview Community Hospital Medical Center in Riv- erside, Calif. Summersville (W.Va.) Regional Medical Center joined Morgantown-based West Virginia University Health System on July 1. Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital has joined Miami-based Baptist Health South Florida, which now includes 11 hospitals. n
