50 Hospital and health system transactions Beaumont Health, an eight-hospital system based in Southfield, Mich., signed a letter of intent to acquire Summa Health, a four-hospital system based in Ak- ron, Ohio. AHMC Healthcare, a Southern California-based in- tegrated health system, is the new owner of Parkview Community Hospital Medical Center in Riverside, Calif. Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health com- pleted its merger with Bon Secours Health System in Dublin. Stony Brook (N.Y.) Medicine completed its acquisi- tion of 90-bed Eastern Long Island Hospital in Green- port, N.Y., July 1. Summersville (W.Va.) Regional Medical Center joined Morgantown-based West Virginia University Health System July 1. Boca Raton (Fla.) Regional Hospital joined Mi- ami-based Baptist Health South Florida, which now includes 11 hospitals. McCready Health, a single-hospital system in Cris- field, Md., and Salisbury, Md.-based Peninsula Re- gional Health System signed a definitive agreement to merge. Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare purchased 24 MedSpring urgent care centers from Fresenius Medi- cal Care, a network of dialysis and outpatient centers. Marlton, N.J.-based Virtua Health completed its acquisition of Camden, N.J.-based Lourdes Health System July 1, creating an organization with 280 care locations and more than 13,000 employees. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems signed a definitive agreement to sell Bluefield (W.Va.) Regional Medical Center to Princeton (W.Va.) Com- munity Hospital. Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem entered into an agreement to acquire Swedish Covenant Health in Chicago. Elkton, Md.-based Union Hospital signed a letter of intent to join Wilmington, Del.-based Christiana Care Health System. Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcro, Maine, and Northern Light Health in Brewer, Maine, received a key approval to create Maine's second-largest health- care system. e University of Louisville announced June 12 that it ended talks with Catholic Health Initiatives about acquiring Louisville-based KentuckyOne Health's local assets, including Jewish Hospital. Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital is partnering with Fast Hospital and health system executive moves Renton, Wash.-based Providence St. Joseph Health has selected Seth R. Teigen to serve as chief executive of Mission Hospital, with campuses in Mission Viejo, Calif., and Laguna Beach, Calif., effective Aug. 5. David Baumgartner, MD, CMO of Mercy Health St. Mary's in Grand Rap- ids, Mich., is retiring, effective Sept. 6. Lawrence Barnard was named Neva- da market leader and president and CEO of Dignity Health-St. Rose Domin- ican's Siena Campus in Henderson, Nev., effective July 1. Wheeling, W.Va-based Wheeling Hos- pital named Michael Campsey, MD, CMO. South Miami Hospital, part of Mi- ami-based Baptist Health South Flori- da, has named Bill Duquette to serve as CEO. Justin D. Harris, CEO for Eufaula, Ala.-based Medical Center Barbour, resigned July 8. Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in Flor- ida named Sharon Hayes, BSN, RN, CEO. Patti Jurkus, CEO of Centra Bedford (Va.) Memorial Hospital, retired July 5, ending a 10-year tenure. UH Samaritan Medical Center in Ash- land, Ohio, selected Timothy Kaspr- zak, MD, to serve as CMO. Bill Kottman, president and CEO of Edward Hospital in Naperville, Ill., is retiring, effective Sept. 30. Lewiston-based Central Maine Health- care selected Jason Krupp, MD, to serve as chief physician executive, be- ginning Aug. 5. Touro hospital in New Orleans named Manuel Linares president and CEO. Bristol, Pa.-based Lower Buckers Hos- pital named Michael Motte CEO, ef- fective in late June. CHI Saint Joseph Health's Saint Joseph Mount Sterling (Ky.) hospital named Jennifer Nolan president. Scott Pillion, CEO of Helen Newberry (Mich.) Joy Hospital, plans to resign, ef- fective Sept. 27. Roy Proujansky, MD, chief operations executive of the Delaware Valley for Jacksonville, Fla.-based Nemours Chil- dren's Health System, is retiring, effec- tive Aug. 7. Las Vegas-based Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican named Kimberly Shaw president and CEO of its San Martín Campus in Las Vegas, effective July 1. Westfield (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital ap- pointed Karen Surkala president, ef- fective July 22. Elaine C. Thompson, president and CEO of Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Health, plans to retire, effective Dec. 31, 2020. Los Angeles-based Keck Medicine USC appointed David Peng, MD, PHD, president of the USC Care Medical Group.
