Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcro, Maine, and Northern Light Health in Brew- er, Maine, received a key approval to create Maine's second-largest healthcare system. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Quorum Health has entered into a definitive agreement to sell Watsonville (Calif.) Community Hospital. J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, a 71-bed, nonprofit community hospital in Hunting- don, Pa., is the newest member of DuBois, Pa.-based Penn Highlands Healthcare. Boston-based Partners HealthCare an- nounced June 4 that it will withdraw its application to acquire Care New England Health System, a three-hospital system based in Providence, R.I. Barnesville Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Belmont County, Ohio, will join WVU Hospitals and the West Virginia Uni- versity Health System on June 1. HSC Health Care System and Children's National Health System have signed a de- finitive agreement to combine the two Wash- ington, D.C.-based systems. University of California San Francisco Health has dropped a plan to expand its partnership with San Francisco-based Dig- nity Health. Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annap- olis, Md., will get full control of Doctors Community Health System, a single-hos- pital system based in Lanham, Md., under a proposed merger. Boston-based Massachusetts General Hos- pital officials announced May 23 that they have finalized plans to acquire Exeter (N.H.) Health Resources. Decatur (Ill.) Memorial Hospital has en- tered into an agreement to join Memorial Health System, a four-hospital system based in Springfield, Ill. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems has signed definitive agreements to sell two Florida hospitals to Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health Sys- tem Sunbelt Healthcare. Marshfield (Wis.) Clinic Health System and La Crosse, Wis.-based Gundersen Health System are exploring a merger that would create a 13-hospital rural healthcare network, the organizations said May 7. Charlotte, N.C.-based Vizion Health ac- quired Panola Medical Center, a 112-bed hospital in Batesville, Miss. Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola Medicine and Palos Health in Palos Heights, Ill., called off merger discussions aer signing a nonbind- ing letter of intent in January. Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health signed a letter of intent to merge with Ireland's largest private healthcare provider, Bon Secours Health System in Dublin. Ripley, W.Va.-based Jackson General Hospi- tal is set to be the fih hospital to join the West Virginia University Health System in two years. Brentwood, Tenn.-based Quorum Health sold Scenic Mountain Medical Center, a 146- bed hospital in Big Spring, Texas, to Dal- las-based Steward Health Care. LaGrangeville, N.Y.-based Health Quest and Danbury-based Western Connecticut Health Network combined to form a new nonprofit health system called Nuvance Health. Advocate Aurora Health assumed full own- ership of Bay Area Medical Center in Mari- nette, Wis. Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Ser- vices completed the sale of its interest in Bay Medical Sacred Heart in Panama City, Fla., to St. Louis-based Ascension on March 14.
