Mr. Henke became vice president and information security officer at Mercy Technology Services in 2013 and is responsible for the system's information security initiatives. He also oversees HIPAA security and compliance efforts. Prior to joining Mercy, Mr. Henke spent 20 years in IT leadership, serving as CISO of Maritz Holdings. Chris Joerg. CISO of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles). As CISO of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Mr. Joerg is responsible for in- formation security of the 886-bed hospital and its 14,525 employees. He has experience devel- oping cyberattack response plans and combatting phishing attacks. Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, Mr. Joerg spent time as director of global informa- tion security at Unisys and director of enterprise security at Mentor Graphics. David Johnson. CISO of Steward Health Care System (Dallas). Mr. Johnson has more than 28 years of experience in IT and leadership. As CISO of Steward Health Care, Mr. Johnson oversees in- formation security for the 37-hospital for-profit health system. e system has 42,000 employees and 42 skilled nursing facilities. He has previous experience as director of enterprise risk and ser- vice management at Dunkin' Brands, where he established its initial information security and risk management programs. Bryan Kissinger, PhD. Vice President, CISO and Co-Interim CIO of Banner Health (Phoenix). Dr. Kissinger spent time as executive director at Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente and vice president of IT, risk management and CISO at Sharp HealthCare in San Diego before taking on his current role as vice president and CISO of Banner Health. He oversees the 28-hospital health system's information security efforts. e system has 50,000 employees and 400,000 members in its provider networks. Kris Kusche. CISO of Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center. Mr. Kusche became a member of Albany Medical Center in 1993 and was appointed the hospital's first information system security officer a decade later. He created the hospital's first IT security program and is now responsible for all information security operations, regulatory assur- ance, prevention and strategy. Mr. Kusche also has expertise in biomedical equipment and oversees the hospital's medical equipment management program. Mr. Kusche has served as board presi- dent for the HIMSS New York State chapter. Tony Lakin. CISO of Maricopa Integrated Health System (Phoenix). Mr. Lakin spent time as director of operations in the United States Air Force and director of Archimedes Global before joining Maricopa Integrated Health System. As CISO, Mr. Lakin is responsi- ble for information security of the system's flag- ship hospital, outpatient specialty centers and 11 family health centers. e system has 3,500 employees and partners with 770 physicians. ien Lam. Vice President and CISO of Bay- Care (Clearwater, Fla.). Mr. Lam has more than 25 years of IT experience and was director of IT security systems and data security officer at Hous- ton-based Methodist Hospital System before joining BayCare. In his role as vice president and CISO, Mr. Lam oversees information security for the 15-hospital health system. He is a member of the College of Healthcare Management Exec- utives and the eHealth Initiative, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit focused on improving safety, quality and efficiency in healthcare with IT. Matthew Modica. Vice President and CISO of BJC HealthCare (St. Louis). Mr. Modica oversees the strategic direction, planning and systemwide implementation of new technology and IT sys- tems for the 15-hospital BJC HealthCare. He is also responsible for the health system's business operations and security breach prevention. Before Mr. Modica took on his current role, he was vice president of global client security at Equifax, where he oversaw the team that supported internal and external client security. He also held leadership roles with Express Scripts and the investment firm Edward Jones. Richard Mitchell. CISO and Director of IT at Eagleville (Pa.) Hospital. Mr. Mitchell has more than 25 years of experience in the financial and healthcare services industries. In his role as CISO and director of IT for the 305-bed Eagleville Hos- pital, Mr. Mitchell oversees technology needs for the staff and physicians on the 40-acre campus. Before he joined Eagleville Hospital, Mr. Mitchell was manager of technology services in Catholic Health Initiatives' data center in Exton, Pa. Ronald Mehring. CISO and Vice President of Information Security for Texas Health Re- sources (Arlington). Mr. Mehring is respon- sible for 29-hospital Texas Health Resources' technology operations program and its IT risk management and assurance program, as well as teams focused on technology and security performance. Prior to joining Texas Health Re- sources, Mr. Mehring spent 21 years in the Ma- rine Corps and led the compliance assessment teams for the Department of Veterans Affairs oversight and compliance group. Hichem Mometem. CIO and CISO of McGill Univeristy Health (Montreal, Canada). Jacki Monson. CISO and Chief Privacy Officer of Sutter Health (Sacramento, Calif.). Ms. Mon- son is responsible for information security and privacy at Sutter Health, a 24-hospital health sys- tem that includes 5,000 physician members of the Sutter Medical Network. She developed the health system's privacy program and has experience pre- venting cyberthreats. Prior to joining Sutter, she served as the chief privacy officer of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Tareva Palmer. CISO of WVU Medicine (Mor- gantown, W.Va.). As CISO of WVU Medicine, Ms. Palmer oversees information security for the nine-hospital health system. She is responsible for privacy and data security for WVU Medicine, which supported around 20,918 inpatient surger- ies and 42,113 outpatient surgeries. Mitchell Parker. Executive Director of Infor- mation Security at IU Health (Indianapolis). Mr. Parker has expertise in security gover- nance, regulatory compliance and risk manage- ment. In his role as executive director of infor- mation security and compliance at IU Health, Mr. Parker is responsible for the information security of the 2,696-bed health system's pa- tients and nearly 30,000 employees. He is an avid speaker on several health IT topics, with a recent focus on blockchain in healthcare. Rob Perry. CISO of Carilion Clinic (Roanoke, Va.). Mr. Perry has more than 20 years of ex- perience in technology and cybersecurity. As CISO of Carilion Clinic, Mr. Perry is responsi- ble for the information security of the 737-phy- sician health system that has 13,230 employees and 225 practice sites. He has experience with big-picture strategy and a track record of over- seeing efforts to resolve system crises. Prior to joining Carilion Clinic, Mr. Perry was senior director of IT infrastructure and cybersecurity at George Washington Medical Faculty Associ- ates, a large independent physician practice in the Washington, D.C., area. Fernando Pedroza. CISO of UCHealth Pou- dre Valley Hospital (Fort Collins, Colo.). Mr. Pedroza served as director of technology services and vice president of technology and security services before becoming CISO of UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital. He is re- sponsible for the data security of the 270-bed hospital that includes 2,000 healthcare profes- sionals. He also oversees efforts to achieve and maintain compliance with government regula- tions. Prior to joining UCHealth, Mr. Pedroza was director of information security at Sisters of Mercy Health System in Chesterfield, Mo., and helped the system transition to Communi- ty Health Systems. Art Ream. CISO of Cambridge (Mass.) Health Alliance. Mr. Ream has spent more than 15 years in healthcare IT positions, in- cluding time with UMass Memorial Healthcare in Worcester, before joining Cambridge Health Alliance. He has experience overseeing multi- disciplinary teams to manage portfolio appli- cations, integration and information security for the academic community health system.
