Surgery Center treated 3,000-plus patients since opening its doors in April 2018. Three insights on its one-year anniversary: 1. Raleigh, N.C.-based Compass Surgical Partners partnered with Stuart-based Martin Health System and five MHS gastroenterologists to open the freestanding ASC. 2. The facility was formerly a multispecialty surgery center. It was repurposed to accommodate endos- copy procedures. 3. Stuart Surgery Center is MHS' first freestanding, gastroenterology-focused center in Stuart and Martin County, Fla., as well as MHS' primary outpa- tient endoscopy location. n Mount Sinai, Merritt Healthcare seeking CON for $10.2M GI- focused ASC — 5 insights By Eric Oliver N ew York City-based Mount Sinai Ambula- tory Ventures and Ridgefield, Conn.-based Merritt Healthcare applied for a certificate of need to build a $10.2 million, gastroenterolo- gy-focused ASC, according to the submitted application. What you should know: 1. If approved, the New York City-based ASC will have four procedure rooms and multiple recovery areas. 2. Forty-two Mount Sinai Health System gastroenter- ologists would utilize the center. 3. Physicians expect to per- form 8,986 cases in the ASC's first operational year. 4. Mount Sinai plans to own 85 percent of the ASC, and Merritt would own 15 percent. 5. The ASC would have a transfer agreement with New York City-based St. Luke's- Roosevelt Hospital Center. n
