LaGrangeville, N.Y.-based Health Quest and Danbury-based Western Connecticut Health Network have combined to form a new nonprofit health system called Nuvance Health. Advocate Aurora Health has assumed full own- ership of Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette, Wis. Cumberland, Md.-based Western Maryland Health System has signed a nonbinding letter of intent with Pittsburgh-based UPMC to pursue a merger. Community Health Systems signed a definitive agreement to sell Tennova Healthcare-Lebanon (Tenn.) to Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Elizabeth, N.J.-based Trinitas Regional Medical Center and Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health System in West Orange, N.J., are discuss- ing a merger. Brewer, Maine-based Northern Light Health and Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcro, Maine, are one step closer to merging. Ardent Health Services completed the sale of its interest in Bay Medical Sacred Heart in Panama City, Fla., to Ascension on March 14. West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Rennova Health has completed the acquisition of Jellico (Tenn.) Community Hospital and CarePlus Center in Williamsburg, Ky. Swedish Covenant Health and the Rush System for Health, both based in Chicago, are negotiat- ing a potential merger. Community Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., and Centura Health in Centennial, Colo., have discontinued merger discussions roughly four months aer signing a letter of intent to combine their organizations. El Segundo, Calif.-based Verity Health, which entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August, completed the sale of two California hos- pitals on March 1. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Sys- tems completed the sale of four South Carolina hospitals to Medical University of South Caroli- na Hospital Authority in Charleston on March 1. e hospitals are 82-bed Chester Regional Medical Center; 225-bed Springs Memorial Hos- pital in Lancaster; 396-bed Carolinas Hospital System in Florence; and 124-bed Carolinas Hos- pital System-Marion in Mullins. Boston-based Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Lahey Health in Burlington, Mass., officially merge March 1 to become Beth Isra- el Lahey Health, a system with 13 hospitals and 4,300 physicians across Massachusetts. Baltimore-based LifeBridge Health has signed a letter of intent with Cincinnati-based Bon Se- cours Mercy Health to acquire Bon Secours Bal- timore Hospital. Healthy Connections, which owns nine Arkan- sas clinics, plans to purchase De Queen (Ark.) Medical Center. Butler (Pa.) Health System and Clarion (Pa.) Healthcare System have signed an exclusive let- ter of intent to merge. Hennepin Healthcare and North Memorial Hospital, both based in Minneapolis, have en- tered into talks that could lead to a partnership or full merger. St. Louis-based SSM Health has stalled talks with the University of Missouri Health Care in Co- lumbia to sell two hospitals, though the two orga- nizations intend to move forward with a partner- ship agreement. Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka, Ill., and Riverside Healthcare in Kankakee, Ill., have discontinued merger discussions roughly four months aer signing a letter of intent to combine their organizations. Santa Clara County will move forward with the purchase of O'Connor Hospital in San Jose, Ca- lif., and Gilroy-based St. Louise Regional Hos- pital despite California Attorney General Xavier Becerra's efforts to block the sale. Atlanta-based Northside Hospital and Law- renceville, Ga.-based Gwinnett Health System have received approval from the FTC to merge. A newly formed nonprofit run by Bloomfield, N.J.-based Community Healthcare Associates completed its purchase of Salem, N.J.-based Me- morial Hospital of Salem County from Commu- nity Health Systems. Hospital and health executive moves Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health named Robert Nesselbush executive vice president and CFO. e board of trustees for Willis-Knighton Health System in Shreveport, La., voted to ex- tend President and CEO James Elrod's con- tract, despite putting a succession plan into place last year. Largo (Fla.) Medical Center, part of Tam- pa-based HCA West Florida, selected Adam Rudd to serve as CEO, beginning April 1. Jennersville Hospital in West Grove, Pa., ap- pointed Claire Mooney, DNP, RN, its perma- nent president and CEO. Memorial Hospital at Gulfport (Miss.) named Mark Wack CFO, according to the Mississippi Business Journal. Greensburg, Pa.-based Excela Health President and CEO Bob Rogalski has le his position. Fort Bragg, Calif.-based Mendocino Coast District Hospital named Wayne Allen inter- im CEO. Boca Raton, Fla.-based Cancer Treatment Centers of America appointed Pat Basu, MD, president and CEO, effective April 1. Matt Caldwell bcame the new president of Bon Secours' Greenville (S.C.) market April 29. Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer, Mass., dropped the 'interim' from President Korry Dow's title. Mercy Health-Springfield (Ohio) selected Adam Groshans to serve as interim president. Kevin Halter, president of Our Lady of Belle- fonte Hospital in Ashland, Ky., retired April 30. Burlington-based University of Vermont Health Network selected Christopher Hick- ey to serve as CFO of Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, N.Y.
