What you should know: 1. e 11,500-square-foot Tryon Endoscopy Center occupies space in a two-story medical building, where Charlotte-based Tryon Medical also invested $1.3 million in a diagnostic center. e endoscopy center opened Feb. 14. 2. Tryon Endoscopy Center will employ 30 physicians and medical professionals, with 12 bay areas and four endoscopy suites. e center is already fully booked for the coming months, Tryon Medical Partners head Dale Owen, MD, told the Charlotte Business Journal. 3. e physicians behind Tryon Medical sued for independence from Charlotte-based Atrium Health's Mecklenburg Medical Group in April 2018. ey officially separated from the group Sept. 1, 2018. 4. Tryon Medical opened two locations Sept. 5, 2018, three in October 2018 and two at later dates. e group now comprises 89 physicians. "A year ago, we weren't an entity. Now, we have logos, signage, buildings, eight different practice sites and one of them has four floors," Dr. Owens told the Charlotte Business Journal. "We've mitigated so many different types of obstacles." n Northwell Health adds total joints at Schwartz Ambulatory Center, plans to expand other ASCs' services By Rachel Popa Physicians at Northwell Health's Manhasset, N.Y.- based Schwartz Ambulatory Center now perform total hip replacement surgery. The key details to know: 1. The center's first hip pro- cedure was done Feb. 11. 2. After surgery, Northwell Health providers coordinate outpatient physical therapy plans with patients. 3. Schwartz Ambulatory Cen- ter surgeons started offering total shoulder procedures last year. Northwell's orthopedic surgery chair Nick Sgaglione, MD, said advances in pain management have improved the surgical processes, giving patients the option to recover from home. 4. New York City-based Northwell Health plans to offer same-day total joint surgeries for hips, knees and shoulders at other ASCs in its network. "In order to have the best outcomes for same-day total joint replacement surgery, candidates for the procedure must be carefully selected," Dr. Sgaglione said. However, HIDA's research found 70 percent of ASC decision-makers don't anticipate M&A within two years. n $8.4M joint venture ASC gets New York state approval — 4 insights By Eric Oliver N ew York's Public Health and Health Planning Council approved OrthoNY, Albany ENT & Allergy Services PC, and St. Peter's Hospital's plan to build an $8.4 million outpatient surgery center, Albany Busi- ness First reports. All organizations are based in Albany, N.Y. What you should know: 1. The joint venture already broke ground on the 22,000-square-foot-medical office building. 2. Construction on the building will be com- plete in June, then developers will construct the surgery center. 3. Once complete, Albany ENT will move into the building's first floor. The surgery center will be on the second floor. 4. The groups predict 4,415 procedures will be performed in the surgery center the first year its operational. n
