42 POPULATION HEALTH 42 CEO/STRATEGY Healthgrades names 'America's Best Hospitals' 2019 By Alyssa Rege H ealthgrades released its annual "Amer- ica's Best Hospitals" list on Feb. 12. For the first time, Healthgrades opted to release one consolidated list instead of two awards. In years past, the company released the Healthgrades Dis- tinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, representing the top 250 hospitals in the U.S., and America's 50 and 100 Best Hospitals. Recipients named among the 250 best hos- pitals represent the top 5 percent of hospitals in the nation. Here are the top 50 hospitals ranked among America's Best Hospitals 2019 by Healthgrades. Although the organizations have ended formal merger discussions, they in- tend to continue to collaborate on ways to best serve patients in Iroquois County, according to the Daily Journal. "With our campus in Watseka and facility in Gilman, we are committed to meet the healthcare needs of the region," Riverside President and CEO Phil Kambic said in a press release, according to the Daily Journal. "We will con- tinue to work with officials at IMH to ensure we are serving the community in the most efficient way." This is the second time Iroquois Memorial Hospital and a Kankakee hospital have ended merger talks. Iroquois Memorial Hospital explored a merger with Presence St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee in 2013, according to the report. n
