Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems completed the sale of two Arkan- sas hospitals — The 492-bed Sparks Re- gional Medical Center in Fort Smith and 103-bed Sparks Medical Center in Van Buren — to Little Rock, Ark.-based Baptist Health Nov. 1. Boston-based Partners HealthCare and Providence, R.I.-based Care New England have ceased partnership talks with Provi- dence-based Lifespan after roughly nine months. New York City-based private equity firm KKR completed the acquisition of Envision Healthcare, a Nashville, Tenn.-based phy- sician services provider. Columbus-based OhioHealth has entered into a five-year management agreement with Cambridge, Ohio-based Guernsey Health Systems to provide leadership and management for Southeastern Ohio Re- gional Medical Center, an 84-bed hospital in Cambridge. UPMC opened a radiotherapy center in southern Italy, the Pittsburgh-based sys- tem announced Oct. 8. The facility, which is scheduled to begin accepting patients later this year, will become part of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, one of the largest integrated cancer networks in the U.S. Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spectrum Health completed its merger with St. Jo- seph, Mich.-based Lakeland Health on Oct. 1. West Reading, Pa.-based Tower Health signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire Douglassville, Pa.-based Premier Urgent Care's 19 urgent care centers. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems completed the sale of Alliance- Health Deaconess, a 238-bed hospital in Oklahoma City. Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare signed a de- finitive agreement to acquire St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn. The boards of Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health and Houston-based Me- morial Hermann Health System signed a letter of intent to merge. Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center acquired High Point (N.C.) Regional Health, a 351-bed hospital, from Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care. Birmingham, Ala.-based Medical Prop- erties Trust sold North Cypress Medical Center, a 139-bed hospital in Houston, to Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare for $148 million. Rochester (N.Y.) Regional Health, a four-hospital system, signed a nonbind- ing agreement with St. Lawrence Health System, a two-hospital system in Potsdam, N.Y. New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System and Irving, Texas-based Christus Health finalized a joint venture agreement. Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours Health System and Cincinnati-based Mer- cy Health finalized their merger Sept. 5, establishing one of the largest Catholic healthcare systems in the nation. Hospital and health system executive moves New Canaan, Conn.-based Silver Hill Hospital appointed An- drew Gerber, MD, PhD, president and medical director, Nov. 26. Siloam Springs (Ark.) Regional Hospital selected Adam Bracks to serve as CEO. Holy Family Hospital, with locations in Methuen, Mass., and Haverhill, Mass., tapped Jeff Dion to serve as vice president and CFO. Addison, Texas-based United Surgical Partners International, a subsidiary of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, named Brett Brodnax CEO. Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Children's Health appointed Paul King president and CEO of Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford in Palo Alto as well as Stanford Children's Health. He will assume the role in early 2019. Mammoth Hospital in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., named Tom Parker CEO, effective Dec. 3. Lancaster, Calif.-based Antelope Valley Hospital tapped Paul Brydon to serve as interim CEO. Keith Parrott, CEO of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala., is resigning Dec. 31. William Considine, CEO of Akron (Ohio) Children's Hospital will retire from the CEO position Jan. 1, 2020 after nearly 40 years at the helm. Natrona Heights, Pa.-based Allegheny Valley Hospital Presi- dent and CEO Bill Englert is retiring in early 2019. Madison, Wis.-based based UW Health hired Frederic Ran- som to serve as president of UW Hospitals, Madison region, effective in December. Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health named Cliff Deveny, MD, its permanent president and CEO, according to a Cleveland. com report. Olean (N.Y.) Medical Group tapped Christine Strade to serve as CEO.
