49 CIO / HEALTH IT KLAS: 5 clinical documentation vendors, ranked by workflow efficiency By Jessica Kim Cohen K LAS Research released a report on clinical documentation improve- ment in September to evaluate which soware vendors and services firms provide support that drives workflow efficiency and financial gains. For the report, the health IT research firm in- terviewed nearly 200 respondents — includ- ing C-suite executives, directors and managers — from 170 hospitals and clinics about their experiences with clinical documentation im- provement soware vendors, such as what func- tionalities the vendors offer and how frequently their organization uses these capabilities. Here's how five soware vendors stacked up when respondents were asked about their abil- ity to help drive efficient workflows. Respon- dents ranked the firms on a scale of 1 to 9. 1. Iodine Soware (based on 15 customers): 8.3 2. Nuance (based on 18 customers): 7.8 2. ChartWise (based on 18 customers): 7.8 4. Optum: (based on 17 customers): 7.5 5. 3M (based on 22 customers): 6.6 KLAS Research noted respondents expressed support for Nuance and ChartWise's dedica- tion to offering customers face-to-face train- ing on how to improve workflows of clinical documentation specialists. ChartWise has de- veloped its integration with EMRs more exten- sively than other vendors, according to KLAS. e report provided data on two other ven- dors: M*Modal (7.7) and nrive (6.8), but KLAS said the limited number of respondents using these products in its sample hindered the firm from generalizing its findings. n Cerner names physician 'all-stars' By Jessica Kim Cohen C erner recognized five providers as "physician all-stars" at its Cerner Physician Community meeting Oct. 7-8, an event within the EHR vendor's annual Cerner Health Conference.
