In January 2014, the hospital broke ground on a $37 million construction project to add 59,000 square feet and renovate 11,500 square feet. e construction intro- duced a new patient tower entrance and expanded the emergency department. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center (Jas- per, Ind.). Established in 1951 and sponsored by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, the 137- bed Memorial Hospital and Health Center care has grown to take on about 6,600 inpatients and 254,000 outpatients. In 2017, the hospital earned a five-star rating from CMS and appeared on iVantage's Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals list a year later in 2018. Healthgrades has highlighted the quality of care at Memorial Hospital for the last nine years, naming the hospital among the top 5 percent in the U.S. for outstanding patient experience. Hawkins County Memorial Hospital (Rogers- ville, Tenn.). e 50-bed Hawkins County Memo- rial Hospital is part of Johnson City, Tenn.-based Ballad Health, a 21-hospital integrated healthcare system. Hawkins County Memorial was founded in 1961, funded by the community and has grown to include more than 50 board-certified physicians and 160 nurses, technicians and support staff. Haw- kins County Memorial was named to the iVantage Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals list in 2018 and was named an IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospital for the third year in 2018. Henry Community Health (New Castle, Ind.). Henry Community Health traces its roots back to 1930, when the 49-bed Henry County Memorial Hospital first opened its doors. In 2015, the hospital began doing business as Henry Community Health to better reflect its philosophy of promoting overall health. is philosophy continues to guide Henry Community Health in its latest endeavors and acco- lades. In 2017, Henry Community Health opened a multimillion-dollar primary care campus, upgraded its surgery center, completed a hospital addition and opened a pain clinic. e hospital was named to the iVantage Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals list in 2018, earned a five-star rating on CMS' Hospital Compare site, and was among 2 percent of hospitals in the nation to earn both the Healthgrades Out- standing Patient Experience Award and the Patient Safety Excellence Award for 2018. Hill Country Memorial Hospital (Fredericksburg, Texas). Hill Country Memorial Hospital is an 86- bed hospital that serves eight counties surrounding Fredericksburg. HCM opened its doors on Feb. 14, 1971, to more than 5,000 community members — roughly equal to the entire population of Fredericks- burg, almost all of whom donated funds to help open the facility. Today, the quality of care provided by the hospital's 650 employees, 200 volunteers and 140 medical staff has garnered attention beyond Gillespie County: In 2018, HCM was named to iVantage's 100 Top Rural & Community Hospitals list and awarded a five-star rating on CMS Hospital Compare. Holland (Mich.) Hospital. Holland Hospital was es- tablished in a house in 1917, and over the last centu- ry has grown to encompass a 189-bed main campus with a network of satellite locations and more than 2,000 employees, 440 physicians and 300 volun- teers. In 2017, nearly 1,800 babies were delivered at the hospital, where physicians and surgeons per- formed 15,893 procedures and logged 443,373 out- patient visits. Beyond the numbers, Holland Hospi- tal earned five stars from CMS' overall star ratings in the past year. Holy Family Memorial (Manitowoc, Wis.). Holy Family Memorial was built on the enthusiasm and funding raised by the Franciscan Sisters of Chris- tian Charity. Responding to a call for a local hospi- tal from clergy and community leaders, the Sisters generated enough interest and capital to a modern hospital — complete with an elevator — on Sept. 28, 1899. e health system aims to stay at the fore- front of healthcare innovation. In 2018, Holy Fami- ly Memorial was named to iVantage's Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals list and earned a five-star overall quality rating from CMS. Houston Methodist Sugar Land (Texas) Hospital. Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is one of eight hospitals in Houston Methodist's system, built in 1998 as a 22-bed hospital so the academic med- ical center could tap the patient population in Fort Bend County. However, that patient population expressed the need for a full-service hospital. e population in Fort Bend has more than doubled since Houston Methodist Sugar Land's beginnings, and with it the hospital has grown to include more than 1,000 affiliated physicians. Houston Methodist is home to five centers of excellence and now serves more than 225,000 patients annually. Howard Young Medical Center (Woodruff, Wis.). Howard Young Medical Center is a rural acute care hospital and member of Ascension Wisconsin, a division of the country's largest Catholic nonprofit health system. e hospital opened its doors in 1977, replacing the former Lakeland Memorial Hospital. Today, the 54-bed Howard Young Medical Center has 55 active medical staff, with additional courte- sy, affiliated and telemedicine providers. In 2018, Howard Young completed phase two of a $5 million renovation project that will revamp its emergency department, as well as its rehabilitation services, car- diopulmonary rehabilitation and wound care unit. HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Breese (Ill.). St. Joseph's Hospital Breese is part of Hospital Sisters Health Sys- tem's Southern Illinois division. e first St. Joseph's opened in 1897 and was later replaced by a new 103- bed facility in the 1960s. HSHS St. Joseph's Breese con- tinues to grow with a $9.4 million outpatient surgery expansion and hospital renovation project. HSHS St. Joseph's Breese is also expanding in other ways. Last February, it partnered with St. Louis-based SSM Health Cardinal Glennon to expand its neonatal telemedicine offerings, and it now hosts three nurses for 18-week residency training through the HSHS Southern Illinois Division's new RN Residency Program. Inova Fair Oaks Hospital (Fairfax, Va.). Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is a 182-bed acute care community hospital, one of five in the $3.3 billion Inova Health System based in Falls Church, Va. e hospital opened in 1987 and more than three decades lat- er, the hospital continues to grow. Inova Fair Oaks earned a five-star overall quality rating from CMS and has been awarded an "A" grade for safety from e Leapfrog Group every year since 2012. Intermountain Dixie Regional Medical Center (St. George, Utah). With 245 beds, Intermountain Dixie Regional Medical Center is the major medical referral center for northwestern Arizona, southeast- ern Nevada and southern Utah. e hospital dates back to 1913 when Donald McGregor, MD, began operating out of a two-story home until 1952. Sev- eral expansions and an acquisition by Intermoun- tain later, Dixie Regional Medical Center now spans three campuses in St. George. Intermountain Dixie Regional Medical Center completed a $300 million renovation project, which has been underway since 2016 and opened Sept. 12. Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital (Ogden, Utah). A part of the 22-hospital Salt Lake City- based Intermountain Healthcare system, Inter- mountain McKay-Dee Hospital is a 321-bed non- profit hospital serving residents of northern Utah and nearby areas. Intermountain McKay-Dee Hos- pital operates a Level 2 trauma center and is the northern base for more than 3,200 Life Flight pa- tient flights each year. e hospital's numerous ac- colades include an "A" safety grade from e Leap- frog Group in 2018 and selection for IBM Watson Health's 100 Top Hospitals in 2016. Ivinson Memorial Hospital (Laramie, Wyo.). Founded in 1917, Ivinson Memorial Hospital cele- brated its 100th birthday last year with the opening of a medical office comprising 35 examination rooms and three procedural rooms. e medical office building is attached to the hospital, allowing 20-plus primary and specialty providers seamless coordina- tion with hospital-based services like imaging. e National Rural Health Association named Ivinson Memorial Hospital among the Top 20 Rural Hospi- tals in the nation for 2018. Jamestown (N.D.) Regional Medical Center. Twenty-five bed Jamestown Regional Medical Cen- ter is a critical access hospital that employs nine physicians and affiliates with physicians at four lo- cal clinics. It is the only hospital within a 100-mile radius to still deliver babies, and is in the process of opening a cancer center serving more than 55,000 patients in the south-central region of North Da- kota. Employee satisfaction at Jamestown Regional Medical Center is high compared to the national average, with the hospital consistently reporting a lower-than-average turnover rate. Kalispell (Mont.) Regional Medical Center. Ka- lispell Regional Medical Center includes a Level 3 trauma center, a neuroscience and spine institute, and a neonatal intensive care unit. More than 400 physi- cians and 3,400 employees across 100 departments provide care and administrative assistance to patients at the five-star CMS-rated hospital. For $45, Kalispell Regional Medical Center patients can access un- scheduled 24/7 online urgent care visits via FaceTime or Skype through KRH Care Anywhere. iVantage designated Kalispell Regional Medical Center a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital for 2018.
