Companies are ranked in order of their total revenues in the last fiscal year. Only compa- nies incorporated and operating in the U.S. are eligible for inclusion in the Fortune 500. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Magellan Health n 5 components of great workplace culture By Leo Vartorella O rganizational leaders may think offering employee perks or flexible work schedules is the key to cultivating a positive workplace cul- ture, but there are actually a number of more fundamental building blocks they must first address, according to the Harvard Business Review. Here are the five systems that companies must establish to instill their values in day-to-day work. 1. Hiring. Having clear behavioral expectations allows leaders to identi- fy applicants that will cement organizational culture. 2. Strategy and goal setting. This guidance not only lets employees know what they should be striving toward but also how they should go about it. 3. Assessing. Determining how behaviors are assessed and evaluated will ensure employees are aware of cultural expectations. 4. Development. Development opportunities keep employees en- gaged and moving in the right direction while still having faith in the organization's culture. 5. Rewards. By making a rewards system standardized and transparent, organizations can eliminate infighting among employees vying for pro- motions. n Healthcare job growth continues; hospitals add 6.2K jobs in May By Kelly Gooch H ealthcare added 28,900 jobs in May, with hospitals contributing 6,200 to that total, according to the lat- est jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of La- bor Statistics. This compares to the 24,400 jobs the indus- try added in April. It is also about in line with the average gain per month over the prior 12 months, according to the BLS. Within the healthcare sector, ambulatory healthcare services showed the most em- ployment growth in May, adding 17,900 jobs. Hospitals added 6,200 jobs in May compared to the 8,000 they added in April. Nursing and residential care facilities gained 4,800 jobs. Overall, the U.S. added 223,000 jobs in May. n
