20 SPINE DEVICE & INNOVATION Zyga is dedicated to the research, development and commercialization of solu- tions that provide clinical and economic value in the treatment of under-served conditions of the spine. Zyga markets the SImmetry® Sacroiliac Joint Fusion System, the MIS system designed to provide a true arthrodesis of the SI Joint, including decortication, bone graft delivery and fixation. FacetLINK from LinkSPINE. FacetLINK uses two screws and a plated cross-con- nector assembly to stabilize the spine following a tissue-sparing midline or micro-surgical decompression. ere are several sizes for plate assemblies and an expandable version to accommodate multiple anatomical and pathological scenarios. e device received FDA clear- ance earlier this year. Revolution Spine System from Intel- ligent Implant Systems (IIS). e IIS lumbar implant kit includes the single-fu- sion plates and screws and also the fully disposable instrument kit developed in collaboration with IIS supplier ECA Medical Instruments. e Revolution spinal fusion kits are single-procedure and disposable products designed to simplify workflow and reduce infection due to cross contamination. Instrument kit maker ECA estimates hospitals and ASCs using Rev- olution could save more than $1,200 per procedure with the disposable instrument kit for both minimally invasive and open procedures. e kit includes fixation in- strumentation, cannulated torque limiters, ratchets and fixed drivers. iFuse from SI-BONE. e minimally invasive sacroiliac joint procedure received a Category I CPT code on Jan. 1, 2015, and next year the outpatient reimbursement for the procedure will be up 14 percent to $10,538; the physician reimbursement for the procedure will jump 25 percent to $722. e iFuse Implant System was de- veloped for MIS SI joint fusion for patients who have failed non-surgical options. More than 1,000 surgeons are trained with iFuse technology and more than 18,000 procedures have been performed over the past several years. InterFuse from VTI. e InterFuse In- terbody Fusion System is a modular in- terbody. It is a large footprint device that can be placed through a small unilateral access channel. e modules are placed one at a time and the devices lock into place in the disc space. e device can be placed through a tube system. Marquise MIS Channel System from Amendia. e Marquise MIS Chan- nel System is designed for easy sagittal movement through paraspinal muscle planes and improved access to the sur- gical site. e system enables minimally invasive procedures on obese patients and was developed to accommodate multiple instruments simultaneously. e technology was designed to reduce muscle ischemia/necrosis/scarring and improves visibility while reducing glare. PediGuard from SpineGuard. Earlier this year, SpineGuard received FDA clear- ance to market its PediGuard products for minimally invasive surgery. PediGuard is a handheld device that alerts surgeons to potential pedicular or vertebral breaches. It provides real-time feedback via audio and visual signals and more than 35,000 procedures have been performed with PediGuard worldwide. PediGuard detects 98 percent of pedicle breaches. Phoenix Minimally Invasive Spinal Fixation System from Orthofix. e Phoenix Minimally Invasive Spinal Fixation System has a built-in reduction tower that is removed aer implant con- struct assembly. It's designed for reduced surgical steps and screw lengths ranging from 35 m to 55 mm. e rod inserter allows for minimally invasive delivery without the need for extra incisions. REVOLVE from Globus Medical. e REVOLVE is a posterior stabilization system for minimally invasive spine surgery. e system was designed to reduce surgery time and lessen anatomic disruption. e device has multi-level capability and non-threaded locking caps to avoid cross threading and diffi- cult cap placement. is is a low-profile system with surgeons performing the reduction using one instrument with the cap pre-loaded, eliminating steps. Scorpion Articulating Inserter from Amedica. Developed for transforaminal lumbar interbody fusions, the Scorpion Articulating Inserter was released in October to accompany the Valeo II TL interbody fusion device system. e technology will aid in minimally inva- sive procedures and is indicated for use with autogra. ey system is designed for greater control and accuracy for the silicon nitride interbody fusions. SImmetry from Zyga Technolo- gies. SImmetry is a device for minimally invasive sacroiliac joint dysfunction designed for fusion procedures. e technology is FDA-cleared and includes a range of threaded, cannulated implants and associated instrumentation. e implants are designed to transfix the sa- crum and ilium for a stable bony fusion. STALIF Integrated Interbody from Centinel Spine. Centinel Spine's STALIF device is designed to streamline complex surgical procedures and reduce surgical time with potential cost savings. e im- plants come in individually packed ster- ile packages with a reduced number of instrumentation trays. e implant has a no-profile design and was developed as a better match to the patient's anato- my. e no-profile design could reduce dysphasia and/or postoperative anatom- ical complications when compared with anterior plates and cage technologies. SteriSpine PS Pedicle Screw System Kits from Safe Orthopaedics. SteriSpine Kits include sterile implants and associated single-use surgical instruments designed for facilitating safer, optimized and low- er-cost surgery. e kits are FDA-cleared and marketed in 16 countries. ere have been more than 1,691 procedures using the kits since the beginning of 2015. A recent study showed the instrument kits reduced surgical time by 12 percent and there was minimal blood loss. TYPHOON MI Transfacet Pedic- ular Screw from ChoiceSpine. e TYPHOON MI is designed for facet arthrodesis and posterior stabilization of the lumbar spine. e system has a lag section to facilitation facet joint decom- pression. e sharp threads through the cortical bone interfaces while minimiz- ing damage. e dual pitch screw thread maximizes purchase and compression of the facet joint. n
